A case against only fans
Onlyfans, that despicable platform of a kind gives a new spin to the corrosive and degenerate prostitution business. We previously had brothels, strip clubs, and then with the rise of the internet-Pornhub. However, these were not enough to satiate the forever burning sexual desire that most heterosexual men possess. It is one demand that never seems to ebb. Never mind artificial intelligence or the Metaverse, what better time to invest your savings in the ever reliable, ever growing prostitution industry than now. After all, it enjoys a humungous customer base and boasts the most obsessed, the most dedicated and the most invested of consumers.
It is a well known fact that the free market never fails to impress, for it gave birth to the abomination that is Onlyfans. We as a society have stigmatised the prostitution business, and quite rightly so. Such promiscuous women who make a living off their own body is a direct and salient threat to the very foundational building blocks of our societies: Families. However, this neo-prostitution much to my surprise has not been met with sufficient hand wringing and due concern from people. Instead, it is being heralded as the tool for women empowerment, a noble and virtuous method of rebelling against the oppressive patriarchy that is seemingly bent on stifling the rightful growth and economic success that women are entitled to. In the media, especially the mainstream media, such “performers” are paraded around as enterprising crusaders of the cause that is women liberation, all the while heaping praise onto them as paragon of virtues, whose hearts are as pure as snow, granting them mother Theresa esque treatment. Do note that they use the word ”performers”, in an attempt to compare them to the performers that you see in your movies or in your theatre. Pay no heed to such word play. “Performer” is such a benign word to describe a sex worker and the demonic craft that they engage in. It is very much akin to describing morbidly obese individuals as plus sized. However, all efforts to put the wool over my eyes has not been effective at removing the distaste that I have in my mouth when talking about onlyfans.
I would be inclined to believe that onlyfans is mainly used as a platform to post suggestive and perhaps even full-on nude photos of the creator in question. It won’t take a genius to figure out that this sounds like pornography with the additional pay wall and the closer intimacy that you enjoy with the creator. I would hence characterise onlyfans creators as glorified sex workers, who commercialise their body in order to make money from it. In my view, a prostitute is one who sells their body in relation to sex for money. This makes porn stars prostitutes. The same applies for Onlyfans creators, or “performers” on Onlyfans.
It is the year 2024, why waste your time dabbling in the dating scene and run the very real risk of getting rejected while being subjected to the cocktail of negative emotions that come along with getting your heart broken? Rejection is certainly painful, for it carries the idea that you do not deserve to pass on your simply inferior genetic material to future generations. One does not get nastier than that. Why not purchase your very own e-girl from a multitude of options in order to meet your every sexual desire and inclination. After all, they are obliged to give you the best customer experience, in light of the fact that you lined their pockets with your own hard-earned cash. This easy route, while convenient, cheapens the dating experience and romantic relationships as a whole. By paying a sum of money, you can have the opportunity to chat and interact with the very object of your sexual desires. This close intimacy was previously only available through the arduous yet immensely rewarding process of finding and wooing an actual woman. In Japan, the use of onlyfans is perhaps less widespread, but I think I have seen my fair share of news where some Japanese men are turning to holographic anime figurines to remediate the gaping hole left by their lack of interaction with members of the opposite sex. The underlying trend is that more and more men are unable to cope with the stress of modern dating and so turn to easier, simpler alternatives. There is something superficial about such relationships. The fact that the “relationship” that you share with the onlyfans creator is transactional in nature, where you hand them money in return for artificial intimacy, or the fact that the creator bears no actual feelings for you and is in fact only in it for the money, or the fact that the creator is also sharing “intimate” time with other onlyfans subscribers shouldat least be concerning to say the least. Onlyfans gives you the false impression that you are in a romantic relationship with someone who loves you, who spends a significant amount of time with you, albeit online. It blunts your drive to go out to search and attract an actual woman who is keen on spending a lifetime with you. There is only so much that zeroes and ones can do, but it can never truly and authentically provide you with the intimate feeling of a romantic relationship with an actual woman. Sometimes the old ways are best. Settle not for your personal 2-dimensional Porn star/whore and its cold metallic embrace, but the warmth and the touch of an actual woman. If I had money to spend, I would use it on the latter. This means getting into physical shape, improving your socioeconomic status, trying and failing again and again. Such things are no easy feat, especially in comparison with onlyfans, yet it is infinitely more rewarding.
Recently, I have been reflecting upon the traits in which I would like to find in my future wife. I deliberated over the question of whether I would be willing to be romantically involved with a person who had a history on onlyfans or really just the prostitution industry for that matter. I believe that most males do share with me in the sentiment that a woman who previously found employment in the sex industry is a major red flag. There is something to a woman being sexually pure and innocent that makes them a better prospect for a lifelong partner contrary to veterans who have been down there in the trenches for a long period of time. This issue does touch on the concept of pre-marital sex and virginity as a whole. I think that it is an axiomatic truth that sex is sacred, because it is between two individuals at their most intimate and vulnerable of moments. Through sexual intercourse, both parties form a special bond that can be explained scientifically by the release of oxytocin. A woman who has remained sexually pure would mean sexual abstinence. When one waits to only have sex with his/her lifelong partner when they are married, it is a show of loyalty to your future potential partner, it implies that you will abstain from the pleasure of sex and instead only share this sacred moment with the person you love dearly and truly. When presented with the opportunity, the refusal to engage in sexual intercourse before marriage is indicative of self-discipline, willpower and patience, traits I would think you would like to find in your partner. So back to the Onlyfans matter. Even if a creator were to not engage in sex before marriage and instead only posted revealing content I would nevertheless refuse to marry them. Everyone has individual agency, they have the choice of doing onlyfans or not. I believe that the creators on onlyfans are fully cognisant of the fact that they are taking money from men who are perhaps not in the best state, who grapple with porn addiction, who suffer from mental health etc. They must realise that what they are doing is to essentially enable their digging of a deeper grave for them to lie in. I don’t think that most prostitutes are particularly proud of the work that they engage in. Similarly, I would be inclined to think that most Onlyfans creators don’t strut around flamboyantly announcing to everyone that they are a sex worker. This shame and embarrassment surrounding that dammable industry is not a result of some social construct but due to the sole reason that such individuals do have a conscience. They are aware of the fact that they are profiting from damaging other people’s lives. This does not seem as glamorous as how the media portrays it. Would you be willing to get into a relationship with a Machiavellian psychopath, or similarly a creator on onlyfans? Perhaps I was exaggerating by making such a connection but I don’t think any sane person who has their heads attached firmly to their necks would be particularly anxious to settle down with a person that is keen on ruining people’s lives just to make their pockets feel heavier. Where is the moral decency? Some people might argue that there is already a demand out there, so why not harness it to make some quick cash. After all, if onlyfans ceases to exist, there is always pornhub waiting in reserve. The thing is, there is no glory in making the situation worst for such people. Instead of channelling your time and energy towards producing a positive change in people’s lives, you use it to make an onlyfans account. There is also the other argument that some people might not be particularly aware of the deleterious effects of engaging in onlyfans and is instead misled by the “you go girl” propaganda that has proliferated throughout the internet, especially in female spaces, but would you want to share the rest of your life with a person of an intellect of such a quality?
In a nutshell, we exist in a time of absurdities upon absurdities. When Aldous Huxley wrote the book brave new world, I don’t think he would have thought of onlyfans. If we had a time machine and had the capability of bringing him to our present day, he would have been left utterly flummoxed. I think that it should be a maxim that everyone should adhere to in navigating this brave new world of ours: Beware the women out there who deal in the flesh.
